  17. This consultation was a useful occasion to identify areas of complementarity and synergy for mutual benefit in support of SMEs and related policies. This exchange confirmed and consolidated the rationale for this Coalition, a timely and needed initiative to connect the dots, fill gaps, accelerate and scale support for innovative actions by the SMEs with relevant policy frameworks and market instruments.

The event was organised as part of the Global Future Labs that bring together 30 – 40 regional SME stakeholders, such as policy makers, intermediaries and SMEs to co-create and develop future-proof solutions.

  20. In the past 20 years, SEED has been supporting eco-inclusive enterprises: MSMEs that provide practical solutions to social and environmental problems. As part of SEED’s 20 Years celebration globally, a cocktail event was organised on 3rd August 2022 at Fiesta Royale Hotel in Accra to celebrate and reflect on SEED’s work in Ghana.

  22. As part of Ghana’s in-country celebration, the team visited a beneficiary enterprise: Gamma Energie. Gamma Energie is a 2021 SEED Award Runner-up, and one of the enterprises that showcased their products during the SEED 20th Anniversary celebration in Accra.

  23. Over 25 enterprises in Botswana have benefitted from SEED’s capacity building and acceleration support since 2021. SEED and its implementing partner, the University of Botswana, deliver comprehensive business support packages to eco-inclusive enterprises through the Starter, Catalyser and Accelerator programmes.

  25. Since 2014, SEED has extensively supported eco-inclusive entrepreneurs in Malawi. Making use of the experience and knowledge gained, SEED established a new cooperation with Technical, Entrepreneurial and Vocational Education and Training (TEVET) colleges to enable targeted entrepreneurship support for their students and graduates.

  29. From 9th – 11th November, 2022, SEED will host and participate in several high-level events during COP27. SEED will host and participate in several side-events to highlight the potential and raise awareness about the challenges for eco-inclusive small and medium-sized enterprises, the gamechangers of on-the-ground climate action, as well as the need and opportunities for scale up and impact through the “Coalition for Innovation, Circularity and Entrepreneurship”.
