Douglas Kativu heads the Global Reporting Initiative Focal Point South Africa and is responsible for advancing GRI's mission in southern Africa and other key target markets on the continent. Before taking up the substantive position with GRI, Douglas served on the GRI Stakeholder Council for 5 years. Douglas has more than 10 years experience implementing multi-stakeholder based sustainability interventions in Africa. He has served in consulting and advisory roles on sustainability initiatives on the continent. He was a member of the international expert group that developed the ISO 26000 and a member of the Air Pollution Information Network Africa and Southern Africa Network for Training and Research on the Environment. Douglas holds tertiary qualifications in Environmental Management, and Applied Physics with research in renewable energy, and professional qualifications in ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
