Mundawathu Gardens
Mundawathu Gardens makes revenue by selling organic fertiliser, compost manure, soil conditioners, certified drought-resistant fruits, vegetables, and bamboo seedlings. They make these products accessible to most low-income farmers in the last mile, who otherwise could only afford chemical fertilisers. The enterprise also targets agriculture cooperatives and environmental stakeholders.
- Reducing food insecurity by improving the resilience of crops
- Supporting empowerment of communities by offering sustainable solutions to last-mile smallholder farmers
- Recycling agriculture wastes into organic fertiliser
- Contributing to afforestation by planting over 100,000 hectares of trees (2023)
- Contributing to the absorption of greenhouse gases through afforestation and manufacturing of organic soil products
- Providing additional income to last-mile farmers and families
